Timing Hitting
How It Works: All you do is swing at MLB The Show 25 Stubs the right time—no PCI control at all. The game determines contact point entirely from timing and player ratings.
Pros:
Very beginner-friendly.
Good for players who struggle with analog stick precision.
Cons:
Minimal control over hitting outcomes.
Limits growth if you plan to compete online.
Best For: Newcomers learning pitch timing without worrying about PCI placement.
My Recommendation:
Go with Zone Hitting if you plan to play online, grind Diamond Dynasty, or improve long-term. While it’s tougher to learn, it gives you full control over at-bats and maximizes your potential. For offline or casual play, Directional can still get solid results without the same mechanical demands.
Ambush hitting is all about jumping on a pitch early in the count—usually the very first pitch—when you anticipate the pitcher will throw something hittable. Done correctly, it can lead to huge offensive results. Done poorly, it can kill rallies fast.
Be ready before the pitch is thrown. This means locking your PCI (Plate Coverage Indicator) to your target area and loading early.
Use power or normal swing. Since you’re attacking a hittable pitch, a power or normal swing is more effective than contact swing.
Example Scenario
You’re facing a starting pitcher you’ve seen throw a first-pitch fastball to cheap MLB Stubs the last five hitters. You step up, sit on a middle-in heater, get it, and crush it. That’s textbook ambush hitting.
