MMOexp Dark and Darker: The removal of Fog of War has been a mixed blessing

The First Dungeon: Goblin Caves

I began my journey in the Goblin Caves, a familiar and somewhat forgiving locale for a beginning run. Right off the bat, I got a lucky drop—a three vigor leather cap, which gave me a nice boost to my stamina. It's always great to start with an upgrade, and this gave me an edge in tanking some early hits.

However, I was also faced with my first decision: should I loot or should I fight? I encountered a rogue early on and, by sheer luck, managed to Dark And Darker Gold headshot him. This encounter gave me access to some useful loot, including a strength ring and a fox pendant with armor penetration. These small upgrades made a huge difference in the long run.

A few more encounters later, and I found myself fighting skeletons and looting chests. The loot drop rates in normal mode had been kind to me, and I soon found more valuable upgrades like a ring of quickness and a potion of protection. This was a good run so far, with the goblins providing an easy target for some early XP.

Navigating PvP and the Fog of War

Now, here's where things get interesting. One of the most significant changes in this iteration of Piss Abyss is the removal of the Fog of War. This means that every player knows exactly where the high-traffic zones are, including the Troll Room—a known hotspot for PvP. The removal of Fog of War has been a mixed blessing. On one hand, it adds excitement and tension, knowing that players will often be congregating in the same areas. On the other hand, it makes PvP inevitable and can be overwhelming at times.

Early on, I found that it was better to take advantage of this and go for high-traffic zones. I used the Troll Room and the Cyclops zones as my main targets. These areas typically attract a lot of players, which means more PvP action. But it also meant that I had to be more careful in managing my resources and my positioning to avoid being caught off guard by a third or fourth-party fight.

The Importance of Looting

As my journey continued, I quickly realized that loot management was key to survival. Every encounter, whether it was a fight against monsters or PvP battles, often left me with a valuable piece of gear or a consumable item. Looting chests was a necessary part of the grind, and each chest contained everything from weapon upgrades to healing potions.

One memorable moment occurred when I killed a nightmare centipede and found a move speed ring and max HP gear—these were exactly what I needed to keep pushing forward. The fact that I was able to keep looting and upgrading my gear gave me a sense of dark and darker gold coin chest progression despite the ongoing PvP threats.
