On September 3, 2025, the 23rd China International Coatings Expo grandly opened at the Shanghai New International Expo Center. This year's expo, themed "New Quality Leading, Technology Empowering," is dedicated to building a high-profile platform integrating cutting-edge materials, technologies, and markets for the global coatings industry. During the expo, Sina.com hosted an exclusive interview with Wu Wangming, Marketing Director of Zhejiang D-Ray Technology Co., Ltd., for an in-depth discussion on the company's new product development, technological advantages, application innovation, and market strategy.

At this exhibition, D-Ray Technology highlighted three new high-performance inorganic pigments: COLORDUR® Manganese Red, which fills a gap in the red inorganic pigment range and offers excellent light and weather resistance; COLORDUR® Violet 4016A (Manganese Violet), a non-toxic purple pigment with excellent light resistance, suitable for use as a cosmetic colorant, anti-yellowing agent for high-end plastics and coatings, and professional art pigments; and COLORDUR® Yellow Y-014, a bright green yellow pigment with acid, alkali, and solvent resistance, non-migration, and environmentally friendly non-toxic properties, suitable for road marking paints, automotive paints, fluorocarbon coatings, and silicone products. These new products further enrich D-Ray's product portfolio and demonstrate the company's strength in high-end pigment research and development and green innovation.

In response to the industry's green and intelligent trends, Wu Wangming stated that D-Ray products consistently adhere to environmentally friendly, efficient, and high-performance principles. Through their non-toxic and harmless ingredients, infrared reflective properties (such as those used in energy-saving building and automotive coatings to reduce heat absorption), and compatibility with new processes like water-based UV inkjet, they help downstream industries reduce emissions and energy consumption, thereby enhancing sustainability. The company invests 4% of its profits annually in R&D, committed to winning the market through technological innovation rather than price competition.
In emerging applications, D-Ray's infrared reflective pigments are already used in energy-saving building coatings and black automotive paint, effectively reducing air conditioning energy consumption and increasing interior temperatures. The company has also developed high-temperature solvent-resistant dyes for food contact materials such as rice cookers and bakeware. Notably, the T-shirts worn by exhibition staff were developed in collaboration with textile companies using D-Ray's high-performance pigments, demonstrating the success of import substitution and the realization of high-value-added applications in China.
Faced with the current economic and market environment, D-Ray Technology is actively promoting import substitution, focusing on high-value-added market segments, and accelerating its expansion into overseas markets such as Southeast Asia and Russia. Wu Wangming also revealed that the company hopes to collaborate across industries to apply fluorescent pigments to delivery worker uniforms, improving workplace safety in the food delivery industry and demonstrating its corporate social responsibility and innovative application potential.
Through this exhibition, D-Ray Technology not only showcased its R&D strength and product diversity in high-performance pigments, but also conveyed its development philosophy of driving the market with technology, guiding applications with green initiatives, and pursuing collaboration through openness, injecting new vitality into the high-quality, sustainable development of China's coatings and materials industry.
