Every hour, when you are playing a game that has the Terror Zone feature enabled, the armies of the Burning Hells will focus their energies and cause terror in specific areas of the map. Monsters in these areas will have a level requirement that is two levels higher than either your current level or their original level, with a maximum level requirement that varies depending on the difficulty. Monsters that have been terrorized drop better loot and grant a greater amount of experience points.

Terror Zones are currently only available in multiplayer mode; however, players have the option to opt out of participating in the mode entirely.

Terror Zones

  • Players look back on reaching level 99 as a momentous experience and a significant milestone in their gaming careers; some even call it a "rite of passage

  • "We want to provide an option in addition to the traditional method of continuously farming Baal, Diablo, or Nihlathak

  • In addition, we want the path to level 99 to be available to a greater number of players, to be rich in content and, most importantly, to be difficult

  • This is where Terror Zones come into play

  • As we get into the specifics, it is important to note that players have the option to opt out of being in Terror Zones if they so choose

When you are playing a game that has the Terror Zone feature enabled, the armies of the Burning Hells will concentrate their demonic might and cause terror in certain zones on the map every hour. Monsters in these areas will have an average level that is at least two levels higher than your current one or their starting level, with a maximum level difference depending on the difficulty. When a terrorized monster is killed, the level of this new level will determine the amount of experience gained as well as the loot that is dropped. In addition to that, monsters that are defeated in a terrifying manner will award additional experience points.

PTR Concentration and Specifics

Character templates consisting of a variety of popular builds and varying levels will be made available to players as a means of supporting player testing and content exploration.
