Players all know that GGG previously announced that Path of Exile: Sentinel will be officially launched on the PC side on May 13, which makes many loyal players excited, and they like to prepare more Path of Exile Currency to meet the needs later.
This new expansion brings a new battle mode. The Sentinel system is fairly complex, but it’s not as flashy or ambitious as some of the previous leagues. It seems Grinding Gear Game has been torn between new content and continuing an overhaul of the Atlas Of Worlds endgame. It was significantly overhauled last season, allowing players to customize the events and encounters you play with a grid of special endgame skills. This update is doubling down, adding 20 “keystone” nodes to Atlas customization, allowing players to obliterate their least favorite elements, or just focus on a smaller range of monster mashing opportunities.
Some of these new grids enable “super” versions of the six endgame bosses, with all the new attack modes and abilities. Players are expected to spend most of their time in these new encounters dodging elaborate shooting patterns. In addition, players also need to spend POE Currency to improve the character’s combat ability, to achieve excellent results in the game.
Players who hunt down these bosses will receive some new unique rewards. Some new jewels, in particular, can be inserted into the player’s passive skill grid to further change its items. The regular non-uber format is still worth checking out, as the league is delivering new unique drops for several endgame bosses designed by the winners of Grinding Gear, the boss-hunting competition held last season.
This update wasn’t all challenges and pains. Some quality of life features are coming soon, as well as official gamepad support for PC. It also means Path of Exile should now be playable natively on the Steam deck, though I wonder if Valve’s handheld will keep up in PoE’s notoriously CPU-tight endgame.
So that’s a sizeable chunk of new content for Path of Exile, but over the past few expansions, GGG has knocked out the oldest and most volatile parts of the game. Instead, last season’s Archnemesis league mechanics have been stripped away, and its simpler, cleaner pool of monster modifiers will replace the current verb stack.
Path of Exile: Sentinel expansion appears to be more incremental than last season’s overhaul. As always, it rolled out as a free update on May 13. Before that, it is necessary for players to go to POECurrency to buy some POE Exalted Orb. This should be something every old Path of Exile player finds necessary.
