When I delved deeper, I found Pest Control strategies and how I came to know about the infamous RS Gold flaw, The Falador Massacre. The 5th of June, 2006 And Cursed You had just celebrated becoming the first player ever to reach Level 99 Construction with a party in his own house owned by his players.
Lag however forced him to boot everyone out and then, after leaving the area, players who'd been in the ring of combat discovered they could, thanks to an error that was not known in the construction skill code in the game, attack anyone out of the PvP zone. Since their opponents were unable to take revenge and the ensuing massacre was recorded in RuneScape history.
There were notes on my bow string running money making strategies stapled to pages. In short my story, I spent many months racing around the Flax Field, spinning Wheel, and the bank of Seers' Village in complete monotony to the point where I had successfully rewired the brain into having fun. The end result was the summer I spent training my Construction skills - it was worth it.
It's interesting to observe the various ways I've played throughout my life; from working through bosses runs to running a roleplaying clan to hours of skills, in order to accomplish a specific achievement.
Nowadays, I play slowly, rarely using anything that can increase the level of my base XP, to allow me to enjoy the long process of levelling up. I read a lot while doing this - it's surprisingly peaceful to listen to the clink of my mattock or pickaxe as background noise.
The reason I keep coming back to RuneScape is the way it feels like a living organism, constantly evolving with new challenges and places. Then there are the skills as well as the interwoven tapestries that tie the different gameplay aspects together, and allow me to switch from crafting runestones exploring dinosaurs. My personal favorite is Archaeology, because of how it integrates exploration of lore with excellent skill progression.
On the subject of RuneScape legends, never forget the questlines. There I've encountered gothic horror in epic fantasy as well as one man's dream of baking a cake. I'll never forget those hours of my time in the Temple of Light, even if I sometimes wish I could. Also, there's Old School RuneScape through which I can time travel back to the original game I discovered and fell in love with.
I've had breaks, mostly during my time playing another game, such as Buy RuneScape Gold through the years. The longest was when Evolution of Combat (also known as EoC) was released - the capabilities and action bars were in direct conflict with the RuneScape section of my brain.
